Basin Beach is a designated backcountry campsite (site code 8R5) on a small peninsula on the western shore of Shoshone Lake in Yellowstone National Park. It offers primitive beach camping with tents set up directly on the beach, lake views, and proximity to thermal features. Access requires hiking; no fires allowed. Vault/pit toilets available. Backcountry permit required year-round for overnight stays, with reservations accepted. Additional Info: Elevation: 7802 ft. Limited amenities; bear bag hanging pole and designated bathroom areas provided. Prepare for muddy trails, mosquitoes, and bring all supplies including water.
