Akokala Lake Backcountry Campsite
About this site
This is a backcountry campsite at Akokala Lake in Glacier National Park, reached by an 8.9-mile hike (one-way) from Bowman Campground via West Lakes Trail and Akokala Lake Trail. The small lake is rimmed by rugged mountains, offering views of Reuter Peak to the northwest and Mount Peabody to the northeast. Set up tents at the designated campsite on the south shore of the lake. Additional Info: Overnight camping requires a backcountry permit from Glacier National Park. The trail features seasonal wildflowers, beargrass, lodgepole pines, and creek crossings.
