Wolf Lake West Provincial Recreation Area
About this site
Tucked away in a pristine spruce forest, Wolf Lake West Campground offers a serene getaway about 20 km east of Edson via Highway 16 and another 53 km south on Wolf Lake Road. Operating from mid-May through late September, this remote retreat features 36 unserviced, first-come-first-serve campsites—16 of which remain closed following wildfire damage—at a nightly rate of $25. As of 2025, reservations are not accepted, keeping access simple and spontaneous. Despite its rustic setup, visitors enjoy valuable amenities: a lakeside setting with a boat launch, firepits, fish-cleaning facilities, vault toilets, and a hand-pump for non-potable water (so bringing your own drinking and cooking water is a must). The campground qualifies for the Alberta Parks Camping Fee Discount for Albertan seniors on stays from May 1, 2025, onward, offering added value to eligible visitors. Additional Info: This remote site is rewarding with its impressive spruce forest and select waterfront campsites. The day use has firepits and boat trailer parking. Go boating, fishing or hike on the informal trails.
