About this site

White Rock Hiker-Biker Campsite is a primitive, hike-in or bike-in site at mile 126.4 along the C&O Canal towpath in Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park near Hancock, Maryland. It offers a chemical toilet, picnic table, grill, and non-potable water (must be filtered, chemically treated, or boiled before use). No fee or reservation required; first-come, first-served with one-night stay limit. Accessible only by foot, bicycle, or horseback; tent-only with max 2 tents and 8 people per site. Open year-round, though water availability is generally mid-April to mid-November. Sites near Potomac River may flood after heavy rains.
