About this site

Weston Hills Primitive Campsite is a free dispersed camping area in the Weston Hills Recreation Area, located about 25 miles north of Gillette, Wyoming, to the west of Highway 59. The area is jointly managed by the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service. Dispersed camping is allowed throughout the area, with many of the best sites located at the top of the buttes on BLM land along Forest System Road 1246. There is one vault toilet near the Weston Reservoir Pond. Potable water is not available. The area features several miles of roads and trails popular for four-wheeling, ATVs, dirt bikes, hunting, and fishing at the pond. Vehicle travel is limited to designated routes, with OHV width restrictions (under 60 inches on BLM land, 50 inches on USFS land). Wildlife includes mule deer, antelope, elk, turkey, and eagles.
