About this site

Primitive backcountry camping on the shores of Western Brook Pond in Gros Morne National Park. The secluded cove is located at the base of the escarpment of the Long Range Mountains where you can enjoy a close-up view of Western Brook Pond's 650 metre cliffs. Access to Snug Harbour requires fording Western Brook and wilderness navigation skills. Recommended for experienced hikers only. Alternatively, launch your kayak or canoe at Lomond for a 2 km paddle along the shore. The campsite features pit toilet and picnic table. Operating season: May 16 to October 13, 2026. Additional Info: Access via 4.5 km unmarked hiking route from Western Brook Pond trail or by paddling. The site is nestled at the base of billion-year-old cliffs with frequent waterfalls. This is a pristine, foot-access-only area maintained by Parks Canada.
