About this site
A great meeting area for the north end of the Buffalo Gap Trail. The switchbacks located on the Maah Daah Hey Trail offer a sweeping vista of the region, including a scenic view of many large buttes. Additional Info: Wannagan Campground is a remote Forest Service campground nestled in the rolling grasslands and buttes of the Little Missouri National Grassland in western North Dakota. The campground features 10 large, open campsites accommodating RVs, trailers, and tents. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and hitching rails for equestrian campers. One accessible vault toilet and a hand pump provide potable water from spring through fall. The campground operates on a pack-in, pack-out policy. Open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations; limited services after Labor Day and before Memorial Day, including no potable water during winter months. A 14-day consecutive stay limit applies.
