Walton Lake Campground may be the best known location on the Ochoco National Forest due to the serene setting among old growth ponderosa pine and mountain meadows. Visitors can choose to spend their vacation fishing on the shore of Walton Lake, or swimming and paddling in the water. There are also many trails nearby for those who would like to explore on foot or bicycle, such as Walton Lake Trail (#809) which circles the lake. See also Walton Sno-Park. Fee info: Overnight Use: Single Site: $15 per night Group Site (Weekdays): $60 per night Group Site (Weekends): $100 per night Additional Vehicle Fee: $6 per night Additional Info: Single sites: 27 sites with paved parking spurs, picnic tables, and combination fire rings/grills. South side suitable for large RVs, north side for tents/cars. Group sites: 2 sites for 15-35 campers, 4-6 vehicles each, reservable via Recreation.gov. Amenities include boat launch ramp, vault toilets, drinking water (solar-powered pump), garbage service, nature trails, paved roads. No horses, ATVs, motorized watercraft, or firearms/bows permitted in campground. 14-day stay limit.
