About this site
This area was once the site of the Lassen airstrip. In the 1930s and '40s, air service flew supplies into the area. Additional Info: Walker Fork Campground is a BLM-operated hosted campground located at milepost 82.1 of the Taylor Highway near Chicken, Alaska, in the Fortymile Wild and Scenic River corridor. The campground offers 24 camping sites, 18 of which are pull-through sites suitable for RVs. Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water, fire rings with grills, and bear-proof food storage boxes. The site is accessible by vehicle via the gravel Taylor Highway and is open seasonally from May through September depending on road conditions. Pets are allowed. There is no cell phone reception at the campground.
