Upper Skilak Lake Campground is located along Skilak Lake in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge's Skilak Wildlife Recreation Area near Sterling, Alaska. It offers 26 wooded sites suitable for tents and RVs, some with waterfront access and wheelchair-accessible features. Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water spigots, fire rings at each site, and a dumpster for trash. No hookups are available. The area is known for fishing rainbow trout and Dolly Varden, hiking trails like Hidden Lake Overlook, boating, and wildlife viewing including bears and moose. Bear-proof food storage is required due to active bear population. Additional Info: Managed by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Pets allowed on leash (max 9 feet). Fires allowed in fire rings using dead/down wood.
