About this site
Umtanum Recreation Site is a BLM-managed campground in the Yakima River Canyon with 6 campsites offering river access. Located along Washington State Scenic Byway Highway 821 near Mile Marker 16-17 between Ellensburg and Yakima. All sites feature picnic tables and fire rings (fires only in BLM-approved metal rings). Vault toilets and dumpster available. No potable water or hookups provided. Open year-round. Reservations accepted May 1 - September 15 through Recreation.gov ($15/night); first-come, first-served October 1 - April 30. Maximum 7-day stay. Fishing is catch-and-release only. Off-road vehicles prohibited.
