About this site
Tyler Bend Campground is located 2 miles off Highway 65 about 6 miles south of St. Joe, Arkansas, within Buffalo National River. The facility includes 28 paved drive-in sites, 10 walk-in tent sites, 5 group sites, and a day-use pavilion with electricity. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground provides flush restrooms, hot showers year-round, potable water, and a dump station during the operating season. Half of the drive-in sites (2-13) and half of the walk-in sites (A-E) are available for reservation at recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. All remaining drive-in sites (14-28) and walk-in sites (F-J) are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground operates with full services and fees from March 15 through November 14. From November 15 through March 14, camping is free but water, showers, and flush restrooms may not be available. The nearby Tyler Bend Visitor Center, open year-round, offers exhibits on the area's history, flora, and fauna, plus educational programs. Recreation opportunities include fishing for smallmouth bass, catfish, and sunfish (Arkansas license required), kayaking, tubing, and swimming in the Buffalo River. Hiking trails from the campground lead to the Collier Homestead, a restored 1930s Ozark dwelling, and connect to the Buffalo River Trail system.
