Tuscarora State Forest Campsite 040 is one of approximately 55 designated roadside campsites marked with red fiberglass posts along dirt and gravel state forest roads. These remote, singular sites allow overnight camping in or very near a vehicle and feature a high line, picnic table, and fire ring. There are no developed facilities or modern conveniences; visitors must pack out all trash. A free camping permit is required for overnight camping on state forest land, obtained by contacting the district office at 717-536-3191. Limit of 7 continuous days of camping, with 48 hours required before resuming at the same site.
