Tool Box Springs Campground

Tool Box Springs (also known as Yellow Post Sites) is a primitive, free, first-come-first-served camping area in San Bernardino National Forest near Lake Hemet, California, at 6,050 feet elevation. The site contains 16 primitive camping spots accessed via Pyramid Peak Road off Highway 74. Each site includes a metal fire ring. Campers must handle their own water, waste, and supplies. Pot toilets are available. The rough dirt road requires high-clearance or 4-wheel-drive vehicles. The area is popular for mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and winter sports, with nearby access to trails like the Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail and Heart Rock, as well as proximity to skiing resorts and San Gorgonio Wilderness.
