Tok River State Recreation Site is a scenic 9-acre riverside campground located at mile 1309 of the Alaska Highway in Tok, Alaska, making it an ideal stopover for travelers entering Alaska from Canada. Situated on the east bank of the Tok River, this state recreation site offers stunning views including the historic burned landscape from the 1990 Tok River Fire visible across the water. The campground features 27 well-maintained campsites, with six specifically designed to accommodate RVs up to 60 feet long, making it a haven for big rigs and highway travelers. Amenities include drinking water, accessible restrooms, picnic tables, grills, and picnic shelters. A sandy beach area features a group campfire site, while a walking trail provides access to hiking and exploration opportunities. Beyond camping, visitors can enjoy river boating and float trip opportunities on the Tok River itself. Fully ADA-accessible with a 15-day camping limit, Tok River State Recreation Site combines essential amenities with authentic Alaskan wilderness character. Additional Info: All campsites are off-grid with no electric, water, or sewer hookups at individual sites. Water collection points and toilets are available throughout the park. The campground is only accessible during summer months. Reservations are available by phone. Pets are allowed.
