This is an Appalachian Trail shelter. Additional Info: Thomas Knob Shelter is a two-story shelter with capacity for 16 hikers, making it notably large by Appalachian Trail standards. The shelter is located at Mount Rogers National Recreation Area in Grayson County, Virginia at mile 497.1 of the AT. It is maintained by the U.S. Forest Service. Food bags should be hung for mice prevention.
