Sweetwater Guard Station Campground
About this site
The Sweetwater Guard Station Campground has 3 walk-in campsites and 8 pull-in sites featuring picnic tables and fire rings at each. The Campground is nestled at the base of the Wind River Mountains and sits next to the Sweetwater River. On the other side of the river is the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. The Campground has 3 walk-in campsites, 7 drive-up campsites, and 1 drive-up group campsite. The individual sites are connected by a graded dirt road. There is one accessible pit toilet in the center of the Campground. All the drive-up sites (including the group campsite) are accessible. They have picnic tables with gaps in the seating to accommodate wheelchair users as well as accessible fire rings with grill attachments. The path to the walk-in sites is not improved and there are no picnic tables at those campsites. Additional Info: This is a free, first-come, first-served campground with no hookups or potable water. Trash receptacles are secured against bears. The access road is an improved dirt road, well-maintained in summer but no winter maintenance.
