Sweetwater Guard Station Campground
About this site
Sweetwater Guard Station Campground has 3 walk-in campsites and 8 pull-in sites featuring picnic tables and fire rings at each. The Campground is nestled at the base of the Wind River Mountains and sits next to the Sweetwater River. On the other side of the river is the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. The Campground has 3 walk-in campsites, 7 drive-up campsites, and 1 drive-up group campsite. The individual sites are connected by a graded dirt road. There is one accessible pit toilet in the center of the Campground. All the drive-up sites (including the group campsite) are accessible. They have picnic tables with gaps in the seating to accommodate wheelchair users as well as accessible fire rings with grill attachments. The path to the walk-in sites is not improved and there are no picnic tables at those campsites. There is no potable water or cell phone reception. No picnic shelters are available, but tree coverage provides some shade. Additional Info: This is a free, first come, first served campground with a 14-day stay limit. Access is via improved dirt road, well-maintained in summer but no winter maintenance.
