Stratton View Shelter & Tent Area is a backcountry camping destination situated on the northwest side of Stratton Pond within Green Mountain National Forest. This shelter sits at the junction of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail and the coincident Long Trail, offering a rustic overnight experience for hikers. The site is located approximately 4.5 miles from the Arlington/West Wardsboro Road trailhead via the Stratton Pond and Lye Brook hiking trails. As a designated backcountry site, camping is restricted to the shelter and designated tent areas only to minimize impact on the pond's shoreline and ecosystem. The facility includes a composting toilet and access to water from nearby sources that must be treated or filtered before use. During summer months, a caretaker is typically present and collects a $5 fee for shelter use. Additional Info: This campsite is located 0.5 mile from the Long Trail on Stratton Pond and is near the site of the old Stratton View Shelter which was dismantled in 1997. It has tent platforms.
