overnight shelter located on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail and coincident Long Trail Additional Info: This primitive backcountry shelter is situated at 2,810 feet elevation in Green Mountain National Forest. It provides space for approximately eight hikers in a three-sided lean-to design built in 1963. A composting toilet is available, along with access to a natural spring water source 150 feet north that must be treated before use. Fires are allowed. Open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees or reservations.
