overnight shelter located on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail and coincident Long Trail Additional Info: Built in 1983, this enclosed structure accommodates up to 16 hikers with four large sleeping bunks and an interior table. It features a sliding door and wood stove, making it distinctive among Long Trail shelters. Located approximately 0.4 miles south of Spruce Peak at 2,180 feet elevation. A composting toilet is nearby; water is available from nearby sources but must be treated or filtered. Managed by the U.S. Forest Service and Green Mountain Club on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees or reservations. Accessed via the Appalachian Trail from the Route 11/30 trailhead near Manchester, Vermont.
