Designated backcountry campsites along Specimen Creek Trail in Yellowstone National Park's northwest Gallatin area, including WD1, WD5, WD6, and WE1. Accessed from Specimen Creek Trailhead (WK3) via moderate to strenuous hiking through burned forests and meadows. Features food storage poles, established fire rings in campsites, and creek water access. Grizzly bears frequent the area; hike in groups of 3 or more, store food properly, and obtain backcountry permits for overnight camping. Additional Info: Campsites located at horseshoe bends, near lakes like Shelf Lake and High Lake, and along creek forks. Campfires allowed only in designated rings.
