Sowchea Bay Park
About this site
Sowchea Bay Park is a picturesque park that was formerly a forestry campsite. The campground is along Stuart Lake, with the majority of campsites right next to the water. The park is located only 20km from Fort St. James. Featuring 30 campsites available for RVs and tents, the park offers pit toilets, hand pump water, and a boat launch. No RV hookups are available. Up to 12 campsites are available by reservation, while the remaining 18 are first-come first-served. All campsites have picnic tables and fire pits. Pets are permitted but must be leashed. Some areas are wheelchair accessible, including one pit toilet. The site layout is not BC Parks standard; larger RVs may have difficulty maneuvering. This is a busy destination for boaters and anglers. Additional Info: Elevation: 2,240 ft (683 m). Area: 32 acres (13 ha). Check-out time: 11:00 a.m. Maximum site occupants: 8. Vehicles per site: 2. Reservations available up to 4 months in advance. Hand-pumped water requires strength to utilize. No day-use area at this park; use facilities at Paarens Beach Park, 5km east on Sowchea Bay Road.
