South Pyramid Horse Camp
About this site
South Pyramid Horse Camp is a primitive, purpose-built equestrian campground in Willamette National Forest's Sweet Home Ranger District. Designed, installed, and maintained with the help of the Mid-Valley Oregon Equestrian Trail Group, the facility underwent improvements in 2013 when the old corral system was replaced with a modern 12-horse permanent hi-line system. The horse camp serves as a centrally located base camp for exploring two major wilderness trail systems. The Old Cascade Crest Trails include South Pyramid Creek Trail #3403, Chimney Peak Trail #3382, Gordan Peak Trail #3387, Scar Mountain Trail #3402, North Pyramid Trail #4161, Pyramids Trail #3380, and Crescent Mountain Trail #3384. Additional Info: Open year-round, first-come, first-served. Winter access may be limited by snow on Forest Service Roads 2047 and 747. Self-issue wilderness permit required. 14-day stay limit per 30-day period. Offers picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, horse corrals, hitching posts, and space for trailers.
