Overview This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service. Additional Info: South Mineral Campground is located in San Juan National Forest near Silverton, Colorado, approximately 6 miles outside of town. The campground features 21-26 sites spread across 3 loops, with a mix of shaded ponderosa pine areas and open creekside spots. Sites accommodate both tent and RV camping with ADA-accessible options available. The campground sits in a valley between mountains next to a river and offers excellent access to the Ice Lakes Basin Trail (trailhead approximately 100 yards away). Amenities include pit toilets, potable water spigots, picnic tables, and campfire rings. No showers, electric hookups, water hookups, or sewage hookups are available. Pets are allowed. Dispersed camping is also available along nearby roads.
