South Manistique Lake State Forest Campground
About this site
This rustic campground is on the shore of South Manistique Lake. The lake offers excellent paddling and fishing opportunities. The lake is well known for excellent walleye, crappie and bluegill fishing but many species of fish are caught from the lake. Carry-in access for canoes and kayaks is at the boat launch on the south side of the campground. Some campsites have direct water access via a narrow footpath. There are 30 sites for tent, small trailer and large trailer use. Site #27 is a pull-through campsite. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from a hand-pump well. The campground is located 5.5 miles southwest of Curtis via South Curtis Road, Long Pointe Road, Sherman Road and Randall Road. Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations. Additional Info: 30 campsites total, managed by Tahquamenon Falls State Park. Open year-round, though seasonal roads are not plowed in winter. Vault toilets maintained. Hand-pump potable water. Small boat launch with carry-in access, no dock. Some sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. Excellent fishing for walleye, muskie, bluegill, and crappie.
