Free, primitive BLM-managed camping area in the remote Black Rock Desert, approximately 50 miles north of Gerlach via Country Road 34 N. The Soldier Meadows Hot Springs Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) features seven defined semi-primitive campsites with parking areas and fire pits, a vault toilet, and a free public cabin (first-come, first-served, up to 14 days). The cabin includes a wood-burning stove and pit toilet. Hot springs and walking trails are accessible within the area. High-clearance or 4WD vehicle recommended for the remote dirt road access. Leave No Trace ethics required.
