About this site

Designated camping area in the Slate River drainage, close to Crested Butte. 19 sites are available and camping is allowed only in designated sites, 4x4 recommended for sites 18 and 19. Each site has a fire ring and is marked with a unit marker. Additional Info: Slate River Drainage offers 43 designated sites total: Roadside sites SR 1-19 along Slate River Rd #734 starting 5 miles from Gothic Rd; Musicians Camp MC 1-17 approximately 6 miles up with vault toilet and larger RV/trailer access; Poverty Gulch PG 1-7 off a high clearance 4x4 road starting 7 miles up Slate River Rd. All sites first come first served, max 14 days, 2 vehicles per site, fires only in metal rings. Camping restricted to designated sites per USFS Forest Order GMUG-2022-10.
