Shields River Dispersed Site
About this site
A primitive campground in the West Crazy Mountains on the Yellowstone District of Custer Gallatin National Forest, located 24 miles northeast of Wilsall on Shields River Road. The site features 6 first-come, first-served campsites at no charge. Vault toilets are provided; no potable water is available. Pack-in/pack-out basis with no trash services. Maximum vehicle length is 22 feet. The road can be challenging when wet; call the ranger district for current road conditions. Surrounded by forested terrain offering opportunities for fishing in the Shields River, hiking, and wildlife viewing. Open seasonally from June 16 through December 1.
