Shields River Dispersed Site
About this site
A primitive dispersed campground in the West Crazy Mountains on the Yellowstone District of Custer Gallatin National Forest, located 24 miles northeast of Wilsall on Shields River Road. The site features 6 first-come, first-served campsites at no charge. Maximum vehicle length is 22 feet. Vault toilets are provided; no potable water is available. Pack-in/pack-out basis with no trash services. Road conditions can be challenging when wet—call ranger district before traveling. Open 6/16–12/1. Fishing access available on the Shields River. Pets allowed but must be leashed.
