Sawtooth Campground
About this site
Sawtooth Campground is a backcountry camping area in South Mountains State Park, accessible via a 6.2-mile out-and-back hike on the Chestnut Knob Trail from the Hemlock Nature Center parking area. The trail features elevation gain of about 1300 feet, overlooks, and a climb to Chestnut Knob before reaching the campsites in a forest clearing. There are several primitive sites scattered around with fire pits; some have picnic tables. Water is available a short distance from sites. Backcountry campers must register vehicle tag numbers at the park office. The park is open year-round.
