Sassafras Hill Campsite
About this site
Sassafras Hill Campsite is a hike-in site on the Pine Mountain Trail in Meriwether County, Georgia. Most hikers access it from the WJSP-TV tower/Mile 23 trailhead, 4.6 miles west, or from Rocky Point Parking Lot (cross Ga. 190), 0.4 miles east. The site is on a flat hilltop with fire rings (A on west side, B). Water is usually available by a small wooden bridge just west (unreliable in summer). Designated for individuals, couples, or small groups of 5 or fewer; larger groups like scouts may use the whole site. Additional Info: Large site, previously popular with scout units. No reliable water nearby most of the year.
