Sandy Beach Campground is located near the Sandy Beach Entrance off Highway 92 at Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area. The campground features 16 Basic sites with grass areas, some available for tents only, and all sites have a picnic table and ground grill. Water is available at all sites, and a primitive restroom is located within the campground. A shower and flush restroom facility is located nearby at Lone Eagle Campground. The area's white sand beaches make it a popular destination for swimmers and those wanting to enjoy the shore. Swimming is allowed at beach areas unless otherwise posted. Lifeguards are not on duty. Campfires are allowed. All camping at Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area is by advanced reservation only, available 180 days in advance for designated campsites and 30 days in advance for beach camping.
