Primitive camping is available at the base of the dunes and facilities are limited to six vault toilets. Water is not available on site. Additional Info: Sand Mountain Recreation Area is a 4,795-acre OHV fee site located 25 miles southeast of Fallon, Nevada, on U.S. 50. It includes the Sand Springs Pony Express Station historical site and Sand Springs Desert Study Area. Primary activity is OHV riding on dunes and designated trails.
