Sand Island Campground
About this site
Sand Island Recreation Area is a developed campground along the San Juan River in Bears Ears National Monument near Bluff, Utah. It offers 21 individual first-come, first-served campsites, each with tent/RV space for up to 8 people and 2 vehicles, picnic table, and fire ring. Vault toilets are available, with drinking water seasonally March through October. Cottonwood trees provide shade, and the area features famous petroglyphs and river access for kayaking/rafting. No reservations for individual sites; group sites reservable separately. Additional Info: Sites are spacious and tucked among trees. Popular launch for San Juan River float trips. Close to highway but quiet at night.
