Salmon Lake Campground

Salmon Lake Campground is a free, primitive BLM-managed campground located approximately 38 miles north of Nome, Alaska on the Seward Peninsula. The nine-acre campground sits on the shores of Salmon Lake and offers six campsites with picnic tables. Amenities include a vault outhouse, waste facilities, and an unimproved boat launch. There is no running water, electricity, or shower facilities. The campground is accessible by vehicle via a one-mile gravel road off the Nome-Kougarok Highway at milepost 38 and operates on a first-come-first-served basis year-round, though it is most accessible during snow-free months. The area is known for wildlife viewing, including bluethroat birds, and offers a sandy beach for swimming and walking.
