RUSTLER PARK (Campground) Nestled within a mix conifer stand at around 8500 ft. elevation with an open meadow covered in Iris. Comfortable summer temperatures and cool nights. 21 single family units and one group site, (non reservable). Concrete tables and ground level grills. 4 restrooms/outhouses. No garbage services and no drinking water available. Trailhead to the Chiricahua Crest Trail is located at the entrance to the campground. Additional Info: Campsites are scattered along access roads purposefully kept out of the meadow to protect fragile plants and soils. Since the Horseshoe II fire in 2011, the campground was rebuilt with canopies added to many campsites for shade. RV camping limited to 22 feet maximum with no hookups. Seasonal operation: April 1 – October 31. First-come, first-served. 14-day stay limit. Black bears frequent the area; bear boxes provided. Excellent birdwatching location with trails leading into Chiricahua Wilderness.
