Russell Field Shelter

Russell Field Shelter is a lean-to shelter located on the Appalachian Trail in Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Cades Cove, Tennessee, at 4,337 feet elevation. The shelter has a capacity of 14 people and is accessed via a 5.2-mile hike from the Anthony Creek Trailhead in Cades Cove. The final approach is rocky and can be a stream. The shelter overlooks Russell Field, a historic pasture that is slowly being reclaimed by forest. It serves as a popular rest point on the Russell Field–Spence Field loop hike and offers panoramic mountain views.
