Rock Creek Lake Group Campground is a tent-only group site located in Inyo National Forest near Bishop, California, at 9,720 feet elevation in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. The campground is adjacent to the main Rock Creek Lake Campground and can accommodate up to 25 people. Visitors must walk from the parking area to reach the campsites. The group site is nestled in a pine forest on the shore of Rock Creek Lake with water views. Amenities include access to fresh spring water and nearby swimming holes. The Tamarack Trail begins in the campground and leads to high-elevation alpine lakes. The area offers exceptional trout fishing (brook, brown, rainbow, and Alpers trout) and abundant wildlife including black bear, mountain lions, mule deer, and various bird species. The campground is typically open from late May through late September.
