About this site

Rescue Creek is a moderately challenging, point-to-point backpacking route in Yellowstone National Park accessible from the Blacktail Pond trailhead near Mammoth Hot Springs. The trail climbs gradually through aspens and meadows, then descends through forests to sagebrush areas along small creeks with good wildlife viewing opportunities. Overnight camping requires a backcountry permit from the Center Backcountry Office (307-344-2160). Designated campsites include 1A2 and 1Y5. Campfires are allowed only in designated campsites within established fire rings. Food must be stored in approved bear-resistant containers or hung 10 feet above ground and 4 feet from sides. Hikers must sleep 100 yards from food storage and cooking areas.
