Railroad Flat Campground
About this site
Railroad Flat Campground is the last of three campgrounds operated by the Bureau of Land Management along the Merced Wild & Scenic River, located 4.5 miles downstream from the Briceburg Suspension Bridge. It offers 9 primitive campsites (mix of drive-in and walk-in) within 100 feet of the river, suitable for tents and small RVs. Features include picnic tables, fire rings, bearproof food lockers, vault toilets, bearproof garbage and recycling cans, and a self-pay fee system. Popular for gold prospecting, fishing, swimming, hiking on the Merced River Trail, and whitewater rafting access. Trailers over 18 feet and large RVs not recommended due to the suspension bridge. Dogs allowed on leash (not at McCabe Beach). First-come, first-served, year-round.
