Pontiac Lake Recreation Area is a 3,745-acre state recreation area featuring a modern campground with vehicle-accessible sites, paved pads, picnic tables, and fire rings. The campground accommodates RVs up to 40 feet and operates year-round with reservations. Facilities include clean restrooms with hot showers, drinking water, and a dump station. Most sites have electrical hookups (30 amp), though individual sites lack water and sewer hookups. The recreation area includes the longest beach in southeast Michigan at just over half a mile, an 11-mile mountain bike trail ranked as one of the "Top 100 Trails" in the United States, equestrian trails, hiking trails, a model airplane flying field, and an off-leash fenced dog area. Boating, kayaking, and swimming are available at the beach. The park supports year-round recreational opportunities including camping, horseback riding, picnicking, fishing, and sightseeing.
