Pioneer Pass
About this site
Pioneer is a large site composed of dispersed campgrounds located in the Globe Ranger District of Tonto National Forest. Set in the cool Pinal Mountains, south of Pioneer Pass is the Bobtail Spring trail that leads to Pinal Peak along with the East Mountain Trail. These trails are fun for nature viewing, day hikes, and family outings. Additional Info: Pioneer Pass consists of 4 areas: Granite (vault toilet, 6 picnic tables each with fire ring), Toll Gate (vault toilet, 6 picnic tables each with fire ring), Wagon Wheel (vault toilet, 4-5 picnic tables and fire rings in a larger group area that can accommodate one smaller trailer), Cattle Trap (vault toilet, 8 tables each with fire ring). Trailers and RVs are not recommended, although a single smaller trailer may be accommodated at Wagon Wheel. Open year-round with snowfall in winter. No water or trash service; pack out all trash and bring your own water. Quiet hours 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
