Pete Lake Backpacking Site
About this site
Pete Lake is a small alpine freshwater lake located on the southern stretch of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness in Kittitas County, Washington. The lake is accessible via Pete Lake Trail #1323, approximately 4 miles from Cooper Lake on a trail with a gentle grade and occasional steep hills. The first 2.5 miles from Cooper Lake follows a valley floor with old-growth forest and frequent small snowmelt creek crossings. Pete Lake is popular for backpacking, hiking, and fishing due to its proximity to the Pacific Crest Trail and nearby Spectacle Lake and Cooper Lake. Multiple established campsites are available around the lake. A free wilderness permit is required to enter Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The area is typically accessible from early June through late October.
