Perch Lake State Forest Campground
About this site
This rustic campground is on the shore of Perch Lake and offers great opportunities for fishing and paddlesports. There are 32 sites for tent, small trailer and large trailer use. Site #12 and #14 are walk-up sites, suitable only for tents. Kayaks and canoes can be launched from the boat launch on the south side of the campground or via stairs located centrally within the campground. Additionally, a boating access site with a skid pier is accessible from County Road 410 or through the campground's main entrance off County Road 407. Paddling is popular on Perch Lake. Carry-in access is located at the southeast side of the campground at the boat launch, or down a set of stairs which are centrally located in the campground. Trail #8 is accessible from the campground via county roads. This rustic campground is open all year; however, the campground and seasonal roads are not plowed. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from a hand-pump well. No electrical available. Overnight fees ($20 for most sites) and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay. One camping unit and six people are allowed per site. Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations. Additional Info: The campground is located 23 miles northwest of Newberry via M-123 and County Road 407 in Luce County. It is managed by Muskallonge Lake State Park. Common fish species include perch, pike, largemouth bass, and panfish. Nearby fishing opportunities include the Two Hearted River (2 miles south) and Muskallonge Lake (4 miles northwest). Public hunting is permitted on nearby state land with a 450-foot firearm hunting setback from occupied dwellings.
