Pearl Bay Chickee
About this site
Pearl Bay Chickee is a double chickee platform in Everglades National Park accessible by boat, canoe, and kayak from Whitewater Bay or via the Hell's Bay Canoe Trail (3.5 miles, approximately 4 hours). The chickee is designed to accommodate campers with disabilities and features railings on several sides, steps leading down to the water, and a large chemical toilet. The platforms are open on all sides to allow breeze flow and reduce mosquitoes. The site sits in the bay away from surrounding mangroves with views of dolphins and stargazing opportunities. The Hell's Bay Canoe Trail is well-marked with over 140 white PVC poles. Backcountry permit required; $21 administrative fee plus $2 per person per night.
