Patos Island
About this site
Patos Island is a wild and remote 200-acre island in the beautiful Salish Sea, the northwestern-most point in the lower 48 states. Managed by BLM in cooperation with Washington State Parks, it offers limited mooring buoys and primitive campsites in Active Cove on a first-come, first-served basis. Open year-round with no fresh water available. Features include hiking trails, Patos Island Lighthouse (1893), wildlife viewing, and a small interpretive museum operated seasonally by Keepers of the Patos Light nonprofit. Only accessible by watercraft (boating, sea kayaking). Seven primitive campsites, picnic area, composting toilets, and 1.5-mile loop trail.
