Palisade Creek Trailhead

Palisades Creek Trailhead serves as the starting point for the 11.1-mile (one-way) Palisades Creek Trail (Trail #14E14) in Tahoe National Forest, rated very difficult with a 2,200 ft descent to the North Fork American River. The trail features tough terrain, swimming holes, and access to lakes, but includes a landslide-affected section requiring caution. High-clearance vehicles are needed for the rough final 0.25 miles of access road past the Royal Gorge warming hut; low-clearance vehicles not recommended. No motorized vehicles or pack animals on trail. Camping restrictions apply.
