Packsaddle Campground is located in the Packer Lake area near the Sierra Buttes, north of the Yuba River in Tahoe National Forest. The campground is surrounded by pine and fir trees with views of alpine lakes, granitic ridges, and glacially sculpted rock outcroppings. There are 14 developed sites with piped water and vault toilets. The campground offers single-family campsites and two equestrian sites with corrals and space for stock trailers. Visitors enjoy hiking, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, canoeing, and gold panning. Pack and saddle stock are permitted. Open June 13 - October 15. Single site: $24 per night. Additional vehicle fee: $5 per vehicle per night. Check-in: 2:00 p.m.; Check-out: 12:00 p.m. Quiet hours: 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. Bears frequent the area; all food must be kept in approved containers. Fire restrictions may be imposed due to hot, dry weather conditions.
