Outlaw Cave Campground is a no-fee, first-come first-served site with 12 rustic camping spaces and one vault toilet in the Middle Fork Powder River Recreation Area. There is no water, no trash service; pack out all garbage. The area features red rock canyons and is historically significant as a hideout for Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch. Outlaw Cave Road is closed in winter (typically November 16-April 15 or January 1-April 14). High-clearance vehicles recommended beyond certain points. Additional Info: Located on the canyon rim at 6,053 feet elevation. Cell service spotty. Prehistoric resources nearby; do not collect or damage.
